As a product owner for a mobile application, I interact with account management, support and UX teams to guide product decisions and engineering effort to deliver our goals to healthcare providers.

I created Lotus Apps as a way to work with small businesses and entrepreneurs to bring digital solutions to existing business practices or launch a new venture. Over the years, I managed a team of talented developers and designers, worked with clients throughout the US, Canada, and Europe, and above all strived to provide personable expertise to clients that cared about their customers, the environment, and wanted to make the world a slightly better place.I utilized the best technology for the right solution on each project, but primarily that meant robust web applications in Ruby on Rails, native Swift applications for iOS, or more recently React Native for cross platform mobile application development.I created products for thrift store logistics and Point of Sale, window treatment measuring and installers, a ride sharing network, an ATV park and campground, educational summer math retention, an entire school event, roster and tuition system, and even embedded software and cloud technology to monitor assets and people on large construction sites for safety and compliance.

I'm honored to act as Chief Technical Advisor to School EventPay, a powerful and intuitive platform connecting parents and school systems enabling digital payments, event management and increased engagement. I offer guidance, industry experience and technical direction for the SEP startup team!

Primary responsibilities include coordinating with Product for requirements gathering and story creation, feature development, legacy refactoring, and mentoring junior engineers.I brought my experience with past remote teams to Hireology and helped implement a Scrum Agile approach to development, and took initiative and owned the introduction of JIRA for project management and more structured development practices.

Joined a talented team as a full-time remote contractor providing my Rails experience to a couple projects. Mentored junior engineers in Rails best practices and existing frameworks. Used tools such as sidekiq, Heroku, capybara-rspec, unicorn, carrierwave, bootstrap, cancan, inherited_resources, high_voltage, sphinx full-text search, and state_machine.

Contracted as a part-time remote engineer to help bring WebRTC backed iOS project for video conferencing to completion and work on the companion Rails application, using Faye, Angular, and Redis.

Verdacom purchased Reverb Media Group (see below in work history) so I transitioned from a remote contractor for a Canadian company to a full time remote employee with Verdacom.Lead product development with team of talented and distributed engineers in an Agile environment. Develop with Rails 3, Devise, ActiveAdmin, Rspec, Cucumber and Angular JS.Worked to bring two products to market, one being a clinical drug trial management application providing patient randomization, shipments, drug dispensation and integration with several 3rd party systems for the 3rd largest pharmaceutical company in the world. The second application allowing the pharmaceutical manufacturer to distribute and track the acknowledgement of documentation critical to auditing purposes during all stages of the drug trial process.Work closely with product owners and project management for backlog refinement, technical representation to client, and technical direction for the team and product.

Short term contract joining a talented group of TDD Rails engineers working on exciting products in the pharmaceutical industry. Cucumber, rspec, devise, ActiveAdmin and more are all part of my daily routine.Worked exclusively on the projects for Verdacom, and Verdacom bought out Reverb a few months into my contract.

I was brought on with NASCAR Productions to help out several teams and projects internally, including applications for managing employee and guest credentials to NASCAR events, and a live to the second race results application providing content via Akamai to web and mobile applications, internal and external to NASCAR itself.Other fun work includes an HTML5 web application that is used at race events for pit selection and officials scheduling and driver assignment for races via an iPad. Crafted a beautiful Trackside iOS application written in RubyMotion that allows employees and NASCAR guests to easily navigate the track, itinerary, weather and broadcasting information on race week.

Project management and time tracking should be easy. SprintApp is simple to use so you can focus on running your business and focus on what you do best. I developed and launched SprintApp after using several competing products over the years and realizing that each offered some feature that I loved, but lacked other important core features. SprintApp aims to provide the best experience for project management.This is a continued effort in marketing the product and also building an open source community around the free version available on github. Project was built using Rails 3, ActiveAdmin, Haml, and Sass and hosted on Heroku, available at http://www.sprintapp.com. I purchased a Twitter Bootstrap based theme for the public website and tweaked for my needs and also did additional styling on top of ActiveAdmin for the product interface itself. The marketing effort on facebook and twitter was also a new and fun endeavour.

Grew existing engineering team from two developers to five in 20 months, as sales increased from $700,000 to near $2 million during this time period. Implemented Github based workflow, ticketing and project management system, code reviews, and code school accounts to further team education and create a robust team. During this time period we also switched from traditional LAMP development with PHP to an almost exclusive Rails workflow. Extensive Rails and iOS development experience in web applications.Worked closely with international corporations to develop software solutions that meet stringent security requirements, as well as high expectations. Clients include NASCAR, General Motors, Ford Motor Company, A-D Technologies, Aqua Chem Global Water Solutions, Ally Bank, and Owens Corning.

Joined a motivated development team providing industry leading Multiple Listing Service (MLS) software to large clients across the United States.

Responsible for project timeline, testing and documentation before delivery to client. Create project architecture and use team of three to consistently deliver projects at or under budget, meeting and often exceeding client expectations. Extensive LAMP and iPhone development experience in web applications, including clients such as Scripps Interactive, Blue Cross Blue Shield, & US Marine Corps.

Supported faculty and staff with hardware and software support for the University.
