I have tried products liability and personal injury cases throughout Maryland and in the District of Columbia, both jury and non-jury. I am admitted to practice in local and federal courts in Maryland and the District of Columbia. I serve on ad hoc judicial committee for asbestos litigation for Circuit Court for Baltimore City. I also serve as inactive docket liaison counsel for all defense counsel for asbestos litigation in Baltimore City.I handled two-week arbitration before The Hon. Richard A. Levie ("RET") of JAMS. The case was originally brought in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, but the parties agreed to binding arbitration with a high/low agreement. The Plaintiff, who had been diagnosed with asbestosis and lung cancer, alleged that he had contracted his disease as a result of exposure to asbestos-containing materials sold, distributed and/or manufactured by several defendants. The arbitration involved testimony from experts in the fields of pulmonology, industrial hygiene, state-of-the-art, pathology and oncology. I was also local counsel in three week asbestos trial tried to verdict in The Circuit Court for Baltimore City, Maryland. I have obtained summary judgment in favor of a defendants in Maryland and the District of Columbia in an asbestos mesothelioma cases, including once case that was before the Honorable Judith Bartnoff in the Superior Court for the District of Columbia. The third party defendant was a manufacturer of a product allegedly containing asbestos. The Motion for Summary Judgment argued that the third party plaintiff had failed to prove that the defendant’s product was a substantial contributing factor as required under D.C. law. The Court agreed and issued a five page unpublished opinion awarding summary judgment. I also handle construction matters for products manufacturer, general contractors & subcontractors involving claims for property damage and personal injuries in both Maryland state &Federal courts.Specialties: product liability, construction and insurance defense.mass tort litigation including: asbestos,lead paint, mold, and pharmaceutical product liability matters.
