In this role, I was a quick learner and became a leader among the front desk staff within my first few months. This position requires constant attention to patients, phone lines, and other staff requests such as paperwork and schedule changes. I routinely respond to complicated situations as well as answer in-depth questions regarding insurance policies. I sucessfully collaborate and communicate with 7 front desk staff, 8 doctors, and a multitude of nursing staff on a day-to-day basis.

Duties for this role included greeting patients, answering complex medical-related questions, and lots of teamwork and coordination with co-workers to ensure every patient received the best care possible. This office is technologically advanced, so I learned multiple computer programs simultaneously and quickly.

During my internship with EMU, I was able to enhance my communication skills with online and remote work and employing mass communication tactics. Additionally, I was able to develop new skills such as website development and apply my communication knowledge to streamline content.

During this mentorship, I gained valuable insight into the world of business, sales, and marketing. I was able to see first hand how an insurance agent interacted with customers, how the sales process worked and was implemented, as well as getting to meet other marketing and sales professionals in different fields.
