A Rotary International assistant governor is the connection between clubs in a designated area and the district. The relationships built with club leaders make Rotary stronger. Area 1 covers La Jolla Rotary, La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary, La Jolla Sunrise Rotary, San Diego Coastal Rotary, and Torrey Pines (La Jolla) Rotary.Duties include but are not limited to:Visit your clubs regularly: Meet with each club at least once a quarter either in person, by phone, or by web conference. Listening to them enables you to discuss their concerns and needs, and provide information, resources, and advice that will allow them to be more successful.Promote the best practices recommended in Vibrant Clubs in Action. Help club leaders implement those practices.Keep the governor up to date on each club’s progress and identify areas that may need attentionHelp club leaders prepare for the governor’s official visitMonitor the progress of your clubs toward their goals: After a club visit, report your assessment and feedback through Rotary Club Central. Use this online tool to make sure your clubs are on track with their goals and achievements in areas such as membership, service initiatives, and giving to The Rotary Foundation.

The YMCA of San Diego County today announced on April 26, 2019 that Michael Brunker, longtime Executive Director of the Jackie Robinson Family YMCA, has been promoted to a new role to better serve all communities throughout San Diego County.Brunker will serve as Vice President for Mission Advancement, a new position within the organization that will lead countywide partnership efforts from the Y’s local corporate headquarters office.
