I was also a member of the Marnell Companies Steering Committee which provides direction and supervision to all business units of the Marnell Companies. Responsibilities for this $600 million international group of casino and resort development and management companies include, in addition to overseeing the corporate accounting department as well as the accounting and finance departments for individual properties, financial reporting, annual budgeting and operational and financial analyses, creation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for internal, external and operational usage. Manage multiple annual audits for individual properties as well as several corporate audits. Operational duties include monthly operational review meetings with property department heads as well as ad-hoc meetings on an as needed basis to review current trends and initiatives.

Responsibilities for this $90 million multi-state automotive service center chain with over 90 operational locations include financial reporting, annual budgeting and operational and financial analyses. Other projects included the development of pricing analysis and recommendation of pricing and discount options to operations. Developed banking relationships including the establishment of a new $2M lease line for equipment financing and a $7.5M revolving line of credit. Created tax-savings strategies that created $300k annual payroll tax savings. Brought in and worked with consulting team that identified $1.5M in health insurance cost savings. Develop multi-scenario budgets and forecasts. Managed a staff of twelve site accountants responsible for daily site reporting. Manage the tax department including the preparation and filing of the Federal income tax return and all non-payroll state and local tax returns including real estate tax billings on over three hundred parcels.

Responsibilities for this $80 million dollar national health and fitness club chain included monthly financial closing, preparation and analysis of general ledger accounts for variances, preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements with analysis and summary for top-level management. Other responsibilities and accomplishments include; developing expansion scenario forecasts and budgets, accounting computers system support and training, development of a formal, written capital expenditure policy and procedures with follow up accountability analysis that enabled the company to recognize over $75,000 in savings in first six months of implementation. Developed policies and procedures for: audited financial statements income tax footnote, annual income tax provision, all sales and use tax audits. Responsible for real estate and personal property tax protests resulting in over $130,000 in savings. Directed sales and use tax audit protests that resulted in over $250,000 in tax, penalty and interest savings. Responsible for all tax related compliance and filings, from annual consolidated federal income tax returns, multiple state tax returns, health plan 5500 returns, to quarterly and monthly payroll returns.
