Field geotechnical work including soil borings, test pits, helical & pipe pile driving, rock sockets, site earthwork, foundation subgrade preparation, fill & backfill, field density testing, asphalt paving, clay cores, wick drains. Soil laboratory work including sieve analysis, moisture content, Proctor tests, tube permeameter testing.

JZN provides geotechnical engineering designs, subsurface investigations, strategic consulting, construction quality control and value engineering to design professionals, contractors, private developers and public agencies. My responsibilities included:-Managing JZN projects; coordinating between drillers, construction crews, foremen, project engineers, owners, and clients-Overseeing subsurface soil Standard Penetration Test borings, keeping accurate and complete field boring logs, classifying all soil samples in the field, and obtaining unconfined compressive strength readings in the field using a pocket penetrometer-Overseeing and documenting bedrock coring to obtain Recovery and Rock Quality Designation values-Overseeing test pit excavations in order to document the existing foundation conditions of neighboring structures-Performing Dynamic Cone Penetration tests in the field to approve subgrade compaction prior to subbase backfill-Performing non-insitu permeameter percolation tests to obtain permeability values for stormwater management reports-Observing pile driving and rock socket installation, keeping accurate and complete field logs, acting as project geotechnical engineer, inspecting driven closed-end steel pipe piles for damage, and approving properly installed piles and rock sockets-Completing multi-building pre-construction surveys by obtaining thorough photos and videos of existing conditions-Obtaining and processing construction survey data by installing crack monitors, vibration sensors, and tilt meters-Documenting the construction of a bulkhead including the installation of sheet piles, H-piles, and 5’ OD steel pipe piles-Preparing boring logs, creating exhibits, and writing geotechnical engineering reports and construction monitoring reports

GeoStructures is a geotechnical ground improvement design/build engineering firm specializing in rammed aggregate piers. They offer an alternative to over-excavation & deep foundations to save clients time & money. My goal was to build professional networks & to promote GeoStructures to engineers & contractors in the Northeast in order to earn the company more work in that region. I also contributed to the preliminary engineering design & cost estimating of new projects as they were indentified.

-Led clients through multi-disciplinary workout sessions with goals to lose weight, build muscle & become more fit.-Coordinated the sales of sessions to clients, & provided nutritional recommendations & overall fitness plans to clients.

-Created site civil project designs including layout, grading, drainage and utility pipe placement for development projects.-Produced construction plans, secured permits, and coordinated projects between owners, contractors and regulatory agencies.

-Coordinated projects, analyzed soil samples and wrote subsurface soil exploration and geotechnical engineering reports. -Performed field inspections and monitored fieldwork like Standard Penetration Test borings and augercast pile installations.

-Supervised fellow student workers, performed lifeguarding duties and coordinated the daily operations of Lake Wauburg.-Operated UF’s Carolina Climbing Wall, provided belay services and climbing instructions and taught groups to belay.

-Graded homework and lab reports and proctored examinations for the Introduction to Soil Mechanics course.-Prepared for & provided assistance during weekly laboratory exercises and held office hours to help students.

-Led the University of Florida canoe team to build, present & race a concrete canoe as part of a national student competition. -Helped coordinate the hosting of the regional event including race day logistics & lake race course set-up & tear-down.

-Measured construction quantities from engineering plans and completed water and wastewater permit application forms.-Performed various office tasks including making copies, assembling submittals and making package deliveries.
