As Injury Management Business Partner, I provide early intervention, stay at work and return to work advice and support to the management and staff in the areas of workers’ compensation and non-work-related injuries and illnesses. Best practice advice is provided to the business on stay at work and return to work strategies and solutions. I work closely with senior management and partner with internal and external stakeholders to identify, develop, implement and/or improve early intervention, stay at work and return to work policies, systems and programmes to meet the Health, Safety and Wellbeing team’s strategic objectives. As a Senior Occupational Therapist, I also have had 10+ years of experience in assessing and managing cases of complex physical injuries, mental health injuries and persons with multiple injuries. I manage cases that are both work and non-work related in nature. I can effectively perform and train co-workers in assessments of capacity, ergonomic assessments and modifications, strategic case management, financial claims strategies / outcomes and engagement with key stakeholders. I have worked in a variety of industries including education, hospitals, aged care, heavy manufacturing, construction, mining, large councils, cleaning contracting, finance, family and social services, disability services, youth justice, emergency services, insurance and government agencies. Throughout these engagements, I have successfully led and supervised a team of Occupational Therapists to make strategic decisions and to be outcome focused when managing claims and early intervention cases. I pride myself on remaining non-adversarial, empathetic to the injured person’s needs and working collaboratively with all key stakeholders. I am experienced in end to end project management; sourcing, designing, implementing and coordinating physical and mental health initiatives across a variety of sectors. Initiatives have included developing a systematic review of the inherent requirements of key roles, ageing workforce interventions, occupational violence and aggression interventions, workplace health and wellbeing training, strategic assessment processes and mental health screening.
