Using the experience of the 4Two team we aim to help our partner agencies, brokers and insurers to grow their businesses by "knowing where their towel is".

The objective of the role is the supervision of MBA students at GIBS thesis. My area of interest include evolution of the insurance industry and BOP development. With a focus on understanding the drivers behind the current and future financial services industry trends and the resultant impacts.

Aon Inpoint provides insurance carriers with analytical insights regarding their underwriting capabilities and advice to help them better understand Aon Risk Solution's clients.

Role includes determination clients requirement and advise relating to these requirements. This is complimented with the negotiation of contract to meet these requirements with Reinsurance markets. In addition performance report and information pertinent to the contract is collated and placed into marketing packs to place the contracts.In addition to Broking, my role involves driving operational efficiency within the department to ensure fast service to our clients as well as finding new ways to leverage our market knowledge and systems to add value to our clients.

My role requires me to keep up to date with the local and global economic situation to allow me to react to changes in the market. This includes informing AIC EXCO of various situations that could affect our position in the market and the availability or cost of reinsurance. It is a requirement to gain understanding and buy in from business when market constraints restrict optimal terms and desired capacity. When this situation occurs a strategy is established to ensure the best possible outcome for AIC is obtained and a balance between quality coverage and cost is achieved. In addition I aim to ensure the Absa values are present in all my dealings and that we deal with our partners in a fair and ethical manor.Current duties include:• Negotiation, placement and management of AIC’s reinsurance programs. This includes balancing requirements of business for capacity and cover while ensuring sustainable and economic terms are received.• Maintenance of all relationships with internal stakeholder as well as all external relationships with reinsurers and brokers.• Review of impacts of solvency on reinsurance agreements• Oversee the specification and implementation of reinsurance functions in the new IJ system and monitor and minimise the impact on production.• Asses impact of new products on my area and AIC in general• Ensure risks referred to URC or RI is within AIC and reinsurer risk appetite.• Manage the modest resource available to the RI department to provide service and support to internal customers and external partners. • Enhance interaction between departments and assist in learning and development of skills of staff affected by reinsurance.• Work with MI to ensure reporting requirement for RI are met to provide information for Board packs, actuarial review committee, monthly and annual financials, risk reports and statutory (STAR) returns as well as departmental requirements.
