Elasto-Kinematic Calibration of the 3D printed 6 DOF robotic arm of the Lunar Rover Mini (LRM)

Contributed to developing a small-scale lunar rover (LRM) within a collaborative and multi-disciplinary setting as a member of the Planetary Exploration team.Key responsibilities included:-Upgrading the main structure through CAD design, additive manufacturing, and extensive testing in DLR Lunar Analogue testing environments;-Designing, manufacturing, and integrating a 6-degree-of-freedom robotic arm;-Testing and improving the ROS-based autonomous navigation software;

Team ICARUS PoliTo is a community of more than 100 people funded by Polytechnic University of Turin and currently developing three main projects: DART, a solid propellant rocket model for altitude competitions; ACC or Air Cargo Challenge model that competes every two years in University Air Cargo Challenge and finally the project I had the pleasure to work on, RA, or Record Aircraft, a five-meter wingspan solar-powered UAV optimized exclusively to cross the entire Atlantic Ocean.I mainly took care of the design of the Air Inlet of the wing box where the lithium battery packs are placed through the use of thermal CFDs to study the response of the hot batteries to the flow inside the box.The whole designing process allowed me to practice with advanced research software such as STAR CCM+ and HyperMesh.
