I joined IBMQuantum three years ago as a microwave design engineer, working on a number of quantum chip designs and developing the open source quantum-EDA tool, Qiskit Metal. Previously I was working as a post-doc in EQSL at IQC with Dr. Chris Wilson on a variety of projects. I had completed a PhD in 2018 at the University of Waterloo / IQC on the project of 'Extensible Architecture for Superconducting Quantum Computing' as a member of the Digital Quantum Matter group, with PI Dr. Matteo Mariantoni. During this time I had also been working as a teaching assistant and a lab instructor for a number of courses. Additionally, I took part in a number of science outreach activities, ranging from running of 'cryogenic experiments' for IQC summer school programs to consulting on 'QUANTUM: The Exhibit'.Conference Presentations: The Large-Scale Quantum Socket: Mitigating Coherent LeakageMarch Meeting, American Physical Society 2018Prototyping Extensible Quantum Computing Architectures,CEC-ICMC 2017Control and Measurement of an Xmon with the Quantum Socket, March Meeting, American Physical Society 2017Quantum Cats: A Case StudyMarch Meeting, American Physical Society 2017The Quantum Socket: Wiring for Superconducting Qubits-Part 1,March Meeting, American Physical Society 2016

Post Doctoral ResearchUniversity Of Waterloo Sep 2018 - Jun 2019Waterloo, Ontario, CaWith Dr. Chris Wilson in the Engineered Quantum Systems Laboratory. -
Doctoral ResearchUniversity Of Waterloo Jan 2013 - Aug 2018Waterloo, Ontario, CaWorked on the project 'Extensible Architecture for Superconducting Quantum Computing'. The primary focus was on a novel approach and design that would enable a scalable superconducting qubit system. This ranged from the improvement and optimization on basic quantum circuits (such as the improvement of fabrication processes for high-Q resonators) to a 3D wiring scheme that is compatible with microwave circuitry at low power and sub-Kelvin temperatures (see below links).Further;• Designed the brand new Digital Quantum Matter (DQM) laboratory. This included the setup, wiring and supporting infrastructure for two new dilution fridges.• Developed MatLab code to allow remote and automated operation of our control and measurement electronics, such as: vector network analyzers; arbitrary waveform generators; vector signal generators.• Designed, simulated and then fabricated multiple chips of superconducting microwave circuits using lithographic procedures in the Quantum NanoFab facility.• Invented sapphire based coaxial compatible 0 dB thermal anchors for use in DQM’s dilution fridge.• Collaboratively developed a variation of the surface code which uses resonant modes for data storage and transmon qubits as couplers between the resonant modes.• Intermediate supervisor and mentor for four undergraduate and masters students. Worked collaboratively with colleagues on: circuit designs; fabrication in the clean room; and experimental measurements.• Lab safety manager for DQM, ensuring all lab SOPs met health and safety policy requirements and that all lab members were up to date on required training. -
