About Benjamin Mccormick
All-around media enjoyer, but most of my work experience is in unscripted television casting, development, and producing. Previously, I managed a small roster of theatrical talent and co-managed a roster of hosts and experts, so I'm quite familiar with both sides of the casting equation. I'm now focusing mostly on developing and producing, but from a distinctly talent-driven standpoint. It's my firm belief that there's no more important aspect of successful and entertaining unscripted programming than the cast, and I work in a way that talent comes first and everything else follows. There are always exceptions to the rule, and different formats obviously call for different approaches, but my general rule is that a concept lives or dies by the people living it on camera. Or more appropriately, a stellar cast defines a concept, but a concept does not define its cast. Both are malleable, but the talent is what informs the creative direction.
