Marcio Castro de Souza is a Senior Fishery Officer at FAO for trade issues. He is also the Secretary of the FAO Subcommittee on Fish Trade (COFI-FT), the main global forum for consultations between countries on technical and economic aspects of international trade in fish and fish products, including production and consumption; and the coordinator of GLOBEFISH – a specific FAO project responsible for information and analysis of international fish trade and markets.Former advisor for International Trade Negotiations at the Ministry of Aquaculture and Fisheries (Brazil). One of the Brazilian negotiators for the World Trade Organization (WTO) for the group on rules in the current Doha Round of negotiations. Co-author of some Brazilian proposals in connection with the regulation of fisheries subsidies at the multilateral level.
