Geddes Capital Commodities is an innovative and dynamic commodity trade finance company that works with SMEs in sub-Saharan Africa to help them get access to knowledge, experience, markets, and capital to help them grow their business and provide them with a long-term partner focused on sustainable and transparent trading in order to promote growth in the region.As Head of East Africa, I was responsible for identifying, mentoring, and managing regional entrepreneurs whose businesses focus on the export of commodities to global markets. My role was to guide them through the process of commodity trade financing with GCC, analyse their business, the supply chain and utilise my knowledge and expertise in international trade finance to risk manage the transaction and help them scale their business.Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic the decision was taken to refocus the business in local South African market.

As Head of Export at Fromtu (www.fromtu.com) I had the pleasure of driving exports of high quality products from Africa. My focus was on Intra-Africa trading as well as exports from Africa to the wider international markets. I was also part of the team responsible for guiding the development of Fromtu to ensure we not only create The African B2B Marketplace but at the same time build an industry leading trading platform designed to simplify and secure trading with Africa. It was a really exciting challenge and rewarding journey - a shame it had to end before we could realise our vision.

Negotiating settlements with opponents and managing all aspects of the Court litigation process.Presenting the client’s case in a clear, logical and organised manner designed to persuade the decision maker to make a favourable decision.Conferencing with clients and/or opponents at Court in an attempt to procure all material information relating to the case which falls outside of the instructions.Undertaking all courtroom advocacy in relation to the case, including examination in chief, cross examination and all submissions.Reacting during hearings and responding to any changes in the evidence, modifying the case plan and strategy accordingly.Writing detailed summaries of the hearings and reporting to the clients.Successfully conducted over 3500 County Court hearings with extensive experience in Civil and Commercial matters, mainly focusing on financial matters, consumer credit agreements and insolvency.
