• Responsible for evaluating, specifying and implementing automation for ALine's planar laminate manufacturing process, including laser cutting systems, cleaning systems, robotic motion systems, and custom equipment design. • Lead on project to design an automated lamination system for microfluidic manufacturing. Duties include project management, communicating with custom equipment manufacturers, writing a User Requirements Specification, modeling the impact to manufacturing cost and capacity, vendor site visits, component specification, detailed internal cost estimates. • Developed robotic pick and place capability. Specified, installed, calibrated, programmed software for a Yamaha SCARA robot system, including custom tool heads, programming demonstrations, and building the system into a cabinet. • Responsible for new facility infrastructure including compressed air system, deionized water system, ethernet and wireless computer networks, network attached storage system, VoIP phone system, and electrical transformers. Duties include system specification, purchasing, installation, documentation and maintenance when ALine moved into the facility. • Communicate with customers about our automation and electro-mechanical capabilities, including giving presentations and demonstrations to visiting customers, and attending tradeshows in Anaheim, CA and Düsseldorf, Germany. • Supervised and mentored an engineering intern who helped write a web interface for an embedded desktop instrument, and created a proof-of-concept iOS interface for a potential product, in addition to performing measurements and doing preventative maintenance.
