Responsible for day-to-day oversight of company operations. This includes company structure; project management; document finalization; field data acquisition, storage and retrieval; and personnel management. My goal is to grow the company (requiring some structural rigidity), while maintaining a somewhat informal small company atmosphere that is enjoyable for staff yet extremely productive.

Responsibilities include project management, report writing and control over most of NRC's work products. I devise work flows that take data from the field into databases, geodatabases and into reports. Fieldwork includes burrowing owl surveys, desert tortoise surveys, California gnatcatcher surveys and vegetation mapping. As the primary report writer for my firm, I have completed biological reports for inclusion as an EIR component for projects across California and as such, have obtained thorough CEQA experience. Project experience totals several hundred thousand acres in Ventura, Los Angeles, Kern, San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, Alameda, San Joaquin, Sacramento and San Diego counties in California as well as large projects in Nevada and New Mexico. Conducted multi-locus DNA fingerprinting for a multi-university project investigating EPF frequency in House Sparrows (Passer domesticus). Work took place in the Animal Molecular Genetics and Ecology laboratory of Dr. Patricia Parker, E. Desmond Lee Professor of Zoology at UMSL.

In Belize, initiated the Lamanai Ornithology Project, an effort to document species abundance and habitat use by resident and migratory birds. Birds were mist-netted, weighed, measured, and color-banded. A small blood sample was collected from the brachial vein for genetic analysis. Vocalizations were also recorded. Most work was in the area of the Lamanai Archaeological Reserve (17º45'N, 88º39'W), however, field work was also undertaken at Las Cuevas Research Station (operated by the Museum of Natural History, London) in the Chiquibul National Forest. Also founded and operated Lamanai Ornithology Expeditions—a for-profit entity which helped to fund my research.
