About Marie-Claude Erian
I am on the Board of Cheetah Conservation Fund Canada whose aim is to raise awareness and funding to save the cheetahs in the wild and their ecosystem. The programs we support are in Namibia, the cheetah capital of the world. More recently, we also provide support for the care of rescued cheetahs in Somaliland from illegal wildlife trafficking. During my 30 year career at EDC, I had opportunities to work in many areas of International trade including financing, debt rescheduling, credit documentation, international policies, marketing and business development. I travelled to over 25 countries (incl. Brazil, Mexico, Chile, India, China, UAE) representing EDC and promoting Canadian business capabilities. In the last 15 years at EDC, my focus has been in developing and executing business strategies to facilitate trade opportunties across a variety of sectors - forestry, pulp & paper, plastics & packaging, machinery & equipment and, most recently, in infrastructure/construction. I was able to provide innovative solutions to bring value to customers, broker new partnerships and ensure a fresh approach to business development. I have also been involved in key corporate projects that redefined EDC's business processes - Total Quality Management (early 90s), Re-engineering (mid-90s) and Business Integration ( mid-2000).I graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Commerce (finance) and obtained my MBA from the University of Ottawa. During my work with EDC, I participated in numerous leadership and management training sessions.
