As the system administrator, and a leader within the organization, maintaining safety, and security of patient data was critical. Maintaining near 100% uptime of nearly 150 servers and ensuring uninterupted access to patient data was a requirement.Daily tasks included maintaining an EMC Clarion SAN, Celerra NAS, and Centera Archive storage as well as a VMWARE 3.0 cluster. Additionally, maintaining Active Directory 2003, Exchange 2003, 9 SQL Servers, Altiris, Citrix Presentation Server 4.0 server farm, HP Openview Data Protector, NEC/Impravata TouchPass Single Sign-On, PACS imaging system, a suite of McKesson products, as well as many other Health Care related products, were all part of the daily tasks.Implemented a redesign of the datacenter which included new racks, server distribution, cooling, and cable management.Implemented new to the environement, a 3 server VMWARE cluster which currently runs 40 critical servers.Implemented a redesign of the 20 server Citrix Farm. This included the redeployment of critical applications, as well as the implementation of Citrix Access Gateway portal.Implemented a Citrix Netscaler to perform active load-balancing of all Citrix components to ensure near 100% uptime for users and physicians working in remote offices or from home.Implemented Barracuda Spam and Web filter appliances for email and web traffic security.Performed daily tas ks of maintain users accounts, backups, service desk calls, change management, and system management and patching.Implemented many new policies and procedures including Service Desk call management and escalation, system maintenance, change management, and more.Implemented planing and operations of a disaster recovery plan for systems and data backups.Implemented best pracitices of system security and use.
