(Atf) Bureau Of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms And Explosives - Internship Program
All traditional undergraduate students majoring in the social sciences must complete a practicum their senior year. I chose to intern at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, & Explosives (ATF). This internship involved 120 hours of documented experience relating to Political Science. This internship was pre-approved by both the faculty mentor: Dr. Justin DePlato and the department head of Social Sciences. Completing the practicum involved keeping a journal with daily entries and weekly reflections as well as a timesheet; signed by the supervisor. This internship included writing a 12-page paper comparing and contrasting my experiences in the practicum with the theories and information presented in the social sciences coursework which was completed at Robert Morris University.As an Intern at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) I had the privilege to: assist ATF Special Agents in any/all ongoing investigations in the territory of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Field Office. Search/Arrest Warrant operations were conducted with multiple agencies to include the: FBI, DEA, & the Pennsylvania State Police. Additionally, I participated in surveillance and Federal wiretap operations, organized key evidence, obtained information through face-to-face interviews, & transcribed numerous phone conversations. ATF Special Agents are tasked with multiple roles & responsibilities; all aimed at serving & protecting the citizens of the United States of America. It was an absolute honor to assist the Pittsburgh team.
