I joined Gym Plus, formerly Jackie Skelly Fitness, as head of finance in 2003.The last 15 years have been a period of constant change for the company with rapid expansion, restructure, contraction and new management. As a member of the senior management team I contributed to all aspects of the business cycle* Designing complex forecasting models which form the basis for all key decisions * Preparing and presenting funding submissions to board of directors and lending institutions* Acting as company representative for third party inspections and audits* Leading discussions on company performance and trends I have gained great satisfaction from effecting meaningful change by continually challenging the way things are done and identifying areas for improvement.* Reduced preparation time of management information pack from 5 to 3 days * Streamlined key processes through installation of intuitive systems across multi site locationsI have built strong working relationships which has enabled me to get the best out of myself and those I work with * Training and developing staff to enhance capacity and maximise efficiencies ;- performance management, creating personal development plans, translating financial data for non financial managers *Managing relationships through the change process;- Sounding board for newer members of the management team, managing supplier and own team confidence in the change strategy In my personal and professional life I have always sought new experiences and challenges. Two of the most rewarding projects I have been involved in combined my professionals skills and personal interest in community development.* I have been involved in a project to bring toastmasters to one of Ireland’s largest prisons. The project has been hugely successful with the prisoners now participating in all of the meeting roles. * In 2001 I spent a year in Uganda with an Irish charity setting up the in country accounting system.
