Starting as a junior systems administrator, I spent much of my time dealing with hardware support, server administration, database administration, new device installation and user training. As my skills improved, I began writing interfaces between databases using methods that best meet the needs of the project. One of my accomplishments in this expanded role included the implementation of an Oracle information system that replaced a proprietary legacy system. For some users, this meant a large learning curve but by writing a utility in C++, I was able to allow them to continue to do many of the same functions they had done and give them the time they needed to learn at their own pace. Through hard work and a demonstrated ability to succeed, I was advanced to senior system administrator and began managing the team responsible for maintaining the entire enterprise server infrastructure for Housing under the guidance of the IT Operations Manager.Throughout my many years as a technologist and technology manager, I’ve been able to develop and hone my skills in business and technology. My extensive exposure to technology includes all stages of the life cycle. I’ve managed many projects but also had the pleasure of implementing the project plan and maintaining the application after deployment. To plan projects, I use tools such as MS Project and UML. I’ve implemented applications on Windows and Linux; utilizing IIS, Apache, Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL; and maintained systems I’ve deployed and systems I’ve inherited.
