Her motivation is driven by the great benefit that comes from working collectively and internationally to maximise scientific understanding, and thereby allowing us to more effectively tackle the great global challenges that affect society today.Since June 2023, Marie-Claire Greening has fulfilled the role of Programme Coordinator within the Strategy, Programme and Coordination Office, Directorate of Earth Observation Programmes (EOP), at the European Space Agency (ESA), based in ESA Headquarters in Paris, France. She coordinates all international Earth Observation (EO) activities for EOP and is the official ESA point of contact to many external partners and stakeholders. Marie-Claire has established and effective relationships with partner space Agencies and she sits as Alternate Principal, Board member and/or official PoC for ESA within international fora, such as the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS), the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), and the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO).Prior to taking up a post with ESA, Marie-Claire was Principal Consultant and Director at Greening Consulting Ltd, a consulting and support services company specialising in the Earth observation (EO) sector and based in the United Kingdom. She has wide-reaching career experience with positions held for ESA, the Surrey Space Centre (University of Surrey) and in a variety of private consultancy companies. From 2021-2023, Marie-Claire held the post of Executive Officer for CEOS, under contract to the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the United Stated National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), then latterly on secondment from ESA. She also supported the European Commission's Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) activities, operated through the European Centre for Medium-range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), and has also led technical studies for the UK Government and supported the international EO community through ESA, ECMWF, NASA, the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) and the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
