Pavement Management Services (PMS) is an independent Civil engineering consultancy firm specialising in testing and evaluation of roads, airports and ports structures and substructures.My work involves the upkeep, integration and development of the electronics and software on various road testing vehicles in order to better obtain data from the pavement surface, accurately position tests and obtain the climatic conditions at which tests take place. PMS LTD captures high grade geospatial data using technologies listed as follows:Lidar, Stereo image data,Video data.Dynatest RSP, Laser road profilers and Laser Crack Measurement Systems, Sideways Force Coefficient Routine Investigation Machine (SCRIM), Dynatest FWD and HWD. Positional sensors: GPS, GPS/INS and AHRS, DMI.(Applanix, OXTS & honeywell)

During the course of my studies I produced a final project.The project was a wireless electricity monitoring system which could be placed adjacent to an electricity switch box and could communicate through wireless Bluetooth to a Bluetooth enabled remote device, within a 20 meter range. It allows the user to monitor their electricity usage through a PC in real time and is displayed graphically over the course of days, weeks, months and years. Java GUI's were used to obtain specific information, from a microcontroller programmed in C, and display that information on a user screen and log to a MySQL database. During college I also created a lot of Java GUI's including a drawing application and various applications e.g. receive/write data from databases/servers, write/read data to/from files etc. Java GUI's were also created for Servlets and for mobile devices using J2ME and LWUIT. I also have experience with C and C++ with embedded systems and PC applications and working with classmates in teams for other tasks and projects assigned to us in order to present findings and, our assessments on a number of topics.
