My work requires me to grasp an in-depth knowledge of the work of these cancer researchers, analysing their published peer-reviewed papers, and 'translating' the language of science into understandable language for the general public. I work closely with cancer researchers in disseminating this information for national and local media, and have had considerable achievements which include front-page national press coverage and major television news reports.I also work closely with the Communications Department around the organisation's media strategy, and often correlate my work with the workings of the Society's fundraising department in order to achieve maximum benefit for the organisation.Achievements: - Coordinating more than 30 not-for-profit Irish organisations around highlighting the safety and efficacy of the anti-cancer HPV vaccine, which contributed to a 10 per cent increase in uptake of the vaccine. - Front page coverage and leading broadcast news reports on the Irish Cancer Society research successes - Leading the editorial of clear, concise and easy-to-understand infographics and animated videos about cancer statistics in Ireland, in so doing allowing the public to easily grasp complex information.
