The project was conceived as a LAB where each designer, with their individual expertise ranging from advertising to user experience to handicrafts, shared and explored the possibilities of sustainable design in Vietnam. The Organic Farm Project at the Don Bosco Vocational Center involved the cultivation of fruits, trees and animals to provide food for the students of the center as well as educate them in the ecological farming techniques. As a volunteer in Cambodia, Kep I worked closely together with 3 local farmers at the site. The objective was to devleop a farm able to supply enough food for an expected number of 300 students and 20 staff during the coming two years. The objective was to devleop a farm able to supply enough food for an expected number of 300 students and 20 staff during the coming two years. The improvement of soil through different ways e.g. composting, mulching, compost tea where mean to improve the poor soil quality. Raising gees, ducks and chickens was another side activity to develop a symbiotic relation between land, animal and people. Additionally, I was involved in the development and plannung of a decentralized waste water treatment plant (DEWATS) in cooperation with Alex Perugini the CEO of Cullwater in Italy for the Vocation Center in Kep. Based on testing and user experience we collected data and trained local field officer for the diffusion of the technology. A school garden provides benefits such as improving motor skills, a didactic approach to gardeing and, most importantly… Show more Snowland Ranag School Garden was a private initiative to support an orphanage in Kathmandu, Nepal. After finishing my studies as a product designer in Germany, I began the planning and fundraising for this project. The objective was to build a sustainable education garden for the children of the Snowland Ranag Light School of Education to fight malnutrition. A school garden provides benefits such as improving motor skills, a didactic approach to gardeing and, most importantly, additional food supply and production. As a result, the daily portion of rice and dhal (sauce made from pulses) could be prepared with additional vegetables and herbs. The whole project contained a series of sub-projects such as the construction of raised beds, seedling boxes, bamboo fences, education paper planting pots, a chicken coop for 25 chickens, water supply system and a bamboo roof-top structure.
