About Michael Christianson

I am a recent graduate of UC Berkeley with a PhD in pure mathematics. My research was in the field of algebraic geometry (more specifically, regarding the classification of certain geometric objects called "spherical varieties").My background in math research has given me both the passion and the tools to become an expert in difficult mathematical problems. At the same time, there is a part of me that has always loved tinkering, especially with computers. Coding has been a longtime hobby of mine, and I've enjoyed the times that I've gotten to use that hobby to help me do research. Now I'm combining my love of math with my love of computers by doing research for a high-frequency trading (HFT) firm. In short, I solve difficult mathematical and technical problems for a living, which is exactly what I'm passionate about and what I do best!
