• Performed PCR with E. coli harboring plasmid-derived target sequences; analyzed results using gel electrophoresis. • Prepared sterile plant growth media and collected inflorescences from switchgrass which were then sterilized and sliced laterally to be grown as callus in tissue culture.• Performed complex bioinformatics research supporting the development of P. Virgatum (switchgrass) as a bioenergy feedstock. Took 5 large BAC clone sequences and performed numerous analyses comparing sequences surrounding a specific locus of interest. Fully annotated these sequences using a bioinformatics pipeline. Reconstructed the genomic organization of this locus and created new visual representations of the sequence data.• Presented my research to collaborators at the University of California, Davis.
