    As owner of a content marketing / social media firm, McKee works with clients to identify and prioritize their content marketing problems, setting SMART goals to correct the problems. He develops KPIs to use as benchmarks to fulfilling the goals. He then creates or contracts the creation of solutions to those problems using digital media – video, images, graphics, and text. These solutions include use of social media; websites; blogs; point of sale; and digital devices such as smartphones and tablets. He uses Google, Facebook, YouTube and other analytic tools to confirm the effectiveness of the media. He also ensures all the materials comply with approved branding and style requirements. He works daily with the Apple Final Cut Pro and Adobe Creative Suite of software including Premiere, AfterEffects, Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. He serves as the Creative Director on all projects, hiring and supervising freelance artists, writers, composers, actors and musicians as needed. He creates media on schedule and within budget. He did the development for his own company website using WordPress for content management (CMS) and consult on some of his client’s website designs. He worked with HubSpot and did some use of the HubSpot CRM (customer relationship management system). Most recently, he is working to integrate agile principles into media creation.

    As Senior Editor of an entertainment company, he lead a team of up to eleven editors, sound and graphic designers. This team created the broadcast and home video releases for all of HIT Entertainment’s brands. Additionally, they created many marketing pieces including home video trailers, tradeshow marketing, point-of-sale and web video projects. He worked on children’s brands including Barney & Friends, Thomas the Tank Engine and Bob the Builder. Programs he edited and supervised aired on over 100 broadcast networks worldwide including PBS and Treehouse Canada. He created material used on HIT Entertainment’s websites and YouTube channels. He created the materials used in HIT Entertainment’s first releases through Apple iTunes. McKee served as the in-house technical consultant for new technologies including digital file format and file transfer technologies. His job title was changed to “Post Production Editor” during Spring 2012 following Mattel’s purchase of HIT Entertainment, but duties, staff, supervisor and salary remained the same.

    McKee served as President, Board member, and Event Director multiple times for this 501(c)(3) that raised money for the Arts of Dallas County. We raised money by holding special events such as art shows; wine, beer and food tastings; auctions both live and silent; and 5K races. This required a significant amount of public speaking at a variety of events ranging from small groups of donors to speaking at the Addison Oktoberfest. He worked finding volunteers; planning and executing special events; and soliciting donations.

    McKee Smith was a co-host for about three years on a weekly radio show about craft brewed beer. The program aired on two radio stations in Dallas-Ft Worth, one in Austin and one in San Antonio. Plus there was a live webcast of the show. McKee helped produce the program, created some of the advertising and served as co-host. Guests included the owners and brewers from Pyramid, Sam Adams, Portland Brewing, Yingling and many, many others.
