Specific duties included: overseeing the negotiation, creation and review of contracts; training employees on best practices to reduce risk to the institution; overseeing legal and contractual issues that pertain to faculty, students, and employees; managing legal and regulatory issues related to the institution’s physician practice group and its clinics; liaising with Nashville General Hospital on healthcare delivery and patient safety issues; handling all corporate governance issues with Board of Trustees; preparing and updating corporate minutes, resolutions, and by-laws; directing external counsel’s handling of litigation; managing all immigration matters involving students, employees, and faculty; conducting internal investigations; preparing responses to EEOC charges and administrative complaints; drafting institutional policies and procedures; and overseeing all matters related to union employees, including negotiating new contracts, responding to grievances, and advising managers on best management practices.
