As one of the first Human Resources Interns at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire Facilities Management, I took part in the recruiting, hiring, onboarding, documentation, and training of new university employees. I created job descriptions, reviewed applicants, screened candidates, led interviews, hired applicants, etc. I also was responsible for conducting new employees' orientation/training and completing all hiring paperwork. Throughout my internship, I created/completed projects based on EDI to ensure that Facilities Management had a diversified workforce. I worked on SOPs, scheduling, hiring checklists, scoring matrices, etc. Throughout my internship with Facilities, I hired 100+ full-time faculty/staff for the university. As the Lead Intern, I was responsible for guiding/training the other interns and employees. I worked to improve and streamline university policies and procedures while also pinpointing areas of improvement that would give future interns an even more well-rounded experience.

I collaborated with the Dean of Students and Student Affairs staff on various campus and office projects. I also worked with other interns to ensure we provided support to all campus staff/faculty members and students. We worked to create an inclusive, safe environment for the entire campus. We worked as a team to get students involved on campus by scheduling events, such as Blugold Fridays, and advocating for university projects/initiatives. I also performed administrative tasks, such as scheduling meetings and answering phones. As the first ever Lead Undergraduate Intern, I acted as a liaison between the interns and supervisors to ensure that we had a effective flow of communication. I also worked with our supervisors to distribute projects, create SOPs, led meetings, etc.

I anticipated and addressed guests’ service needs to ensure that all customers were having a great experience while at our restaurant. I also took on some human resources responsibilities, as I improved the training protocol for all new hosting applicants. I also collaborated with other employees to problem-solve and accomplish goals.

I was the first Human Resources Intern with 513FREE, a nonprofit organization in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Throughout my internship, I worked with the Board of Directors to establish new short- and long-term goals that were attainable. I combined what I learned in the classroom with extensive research to meet these goals. I also created the organization's first Policies and Procedures Employee Handbook. This Handbook ended up being almost one hundred pages long and included the job descriptions, Code of Conduct, Background Check Form, Code of Ethics, etc. I also helped the Board organize community outreach events. By the end of my internship, I had successfully created the organization's first Human Resources Department, while also stimulating growth.
