I received my MSc in Microbiology and Bsc in Biomolecular Engineering from UC Santa Cruz. My academic research and theses were in the synthetic biology field, where I focused on the metabolic engineering and de-novo genome assembly of cyanobacteria. After graduation, I was the first hire at 64x Bio, where I began working on genetic engineering (genome recoding, specifically) in both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Currently, I'm a Scientist II on the Cell Engineering Team, where I routinely work with CRISPR, viral vectors (AAV), and general tissue culture with both adherent and suspension mammalian cell lines. We are using high throughput screening and functional genomics to solve the viral vector manufacturing bottleneck.
