I am completing research for my honors thesis in Dr. Karen Menuz's Lab in UConn's PNB department, where I am studying the sexually dimorphic olfactory gene Obp47a in the forelegs of male Drosophila Melanogaster, and how it affects courtship and mating behavior. This work is part of a larger paper discussing four foreleg and male specific olfactory genes, which I am assisting in writing.

I meet with students both online and in person to tutor them in the subjects they request help with. I help them develop personalized learning strategies, learn how to successfully take notes and determine key topics during lectures, and explain difficult concepts.

I meet weekly with female mentees pursuing STEM careers and assist them in strategies for career development and planning, academic achievement, pursuit of undergraduate research, and networking. I also attend bimonthly programs with fellow mentors and mentees to develop STEM-applicable skill sets, participate in workshops on overcoming gender inequity in STEM, and educate about female representation and women’s issues.

I also collaborate with the other staff of the Women's Center to educate, advocate, and provide support services for the achievement of women's equity, through an antiracist femenist lens.
