About Mckenna Hewitt

Hi there! My name is McKenna and I am a senior at Grand Valley studying Recreational Therapy with a minor in Psychology. I completed a 300-hour fieldwork placement at Renew Therapeutic Riding center in Holand Michigan. I was able to be involved in the lessons held at Renew as a lesson assistant, volunteer manager, and safety monitor. I learned so much from my supervisors, and had a blast with the riders and their families! Right now, I am working through my 600-hour internship placement on a behavioral health unit at Memorial Healthcare Hospital, in Owosso Michigan! I have loved it so far and I can not wait to get even more hands-on in the Recreational Therapy world!

I was so excited when I was able to teach a class to dancers with special needs, it was one of the things that introduced me to the idea of reactional therapy. Not only did I teach at Studio 3, but I also assisted in studio management doing things like; front desk attendant, cash handling, appointment scheduling, prop management, and recital planning. I will forever be thankful for Studio 3 and what they've done for me.
