I'm Mckenna Laing, a witty, creative, and motivated third-year commerce student at the Gustavson School of Business, University of Victoria. With my dedication, growth mindset, and passion for improving healthcare, I strive to enhance care approaches globally, utilizing my talent in communications and marketing. I’m currently completing a co-op as a Marketing and Communications Assistant at the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation, building on experience from last year’s co-op as a Communications & Engagement Assistant with the Department of Pediatrics. Along with being a member of the Youth Advisory Committee at BCCH, these two roles have provided me with excellent insight and skills I need to pursue a career in healthcare communications. Additionally, I serve as the Social Media Manager at the Victoria-based production company, Orca Cove Media, focusing on producing authentic Indigenous content. At UVIC, I'm involved with the Commerce Student Society as a Director for the “Five Days for the Homeless” Charity Events, and an Executive of Marketing for the recently founded Girlboss UVIC club, which contributes to empowerment and meaningful causes.Drawing from diverse experiences, I have developed strong leadership skills such as incredible adaptability, collaboration, and prioritization skills. I enjoy working with others and value creating a safe environment for ideas to flow. With the enthusiasm, dedication, and leadership skills I bring to any environment or task, I believe that I will provide positive energy and success anywhere I go.
