Elementary School Counselor
Current- Assisted and collaborated with the creation and development of counseling program at elementary level in district- Taught approximately 40 classroom lessons monthly on coping skills, resiliency, conflict resolution, empathy, self-esteem, anxiety, and mindfulness- Assessed, advised, and followed up with students regarding current and future academic/ career goals- Created regular social/emotional counselor check-ins as well as follow up with students requiring additional support- Led group counseling sessions on new student orientation, emotion management, friendships, family dynamics, and anxiety- Assist students with development of self-advocacy, resiliency, and current problem solving skills- Ability to create and disseminate presentations in engaging manner using visual/audio techniques and handouts- Participated in IEP/504/SST meetings as counselor and provided appropriate recommendations for student and families- Promoted career awareness activities through Thrively program- Collaborated with teachers, staff, and families weekly and provided resources according to needs- Led, organized, and presented analysis of student mental health data to administration quarterly- Maintained an understanding of online student information system and ability to use on daily basis- Participated in crisis, short-term, solution-focused counseling and community referral process- Attended professional development to further enhance knowledge of ASCA RAMP program and restorative practices
