I've been babysitting for a long time and I've met a bunch of kids with different personalities. One of the things that I learned from babysitting is how to work with different people and come to a mutual agreement. Kids are sensitive, expressive, and usually have a short fuse but they all have their own personalities. Each kid has their own individual mind, so it's important to remember to listen to them and try to understand their thoughts and feelings because even though they are kids you shouldn't minimize the way they feel. At the beginning of this job, it can be hard to know how to deal with their emotions while also handling your own. So this job has taught me to be patient and be in control of my emotions to ease stressful situations.

This hostess position was the first job I had in customer service and won't be the last. I didn't spend a lot of time working at this restaurant due to poor management and being underpaid, but I still learned a lot from working there. I was taught the importance of time management and communication. As a hostess, you have to sit people, clean menus, clean the bathrooms, tell servers that I've sat a table in their sections, etc. So it can all get pretty hectic but over the time I'd spent there, I'd started getting better knowing when the time was for a certain action or task. So when we had a slow rush, I would go check the bathroom and clean the menus. Communication is also a big deal in the food industry. I had to sharpen my communication skills with the servers and the kitchen staff to run the restaurant smoothly.

For this job I participated in many areas. I sold tickets/wrist bands, worked concessions, cleans floors, cleaned bathrooms, and helped organize tournaments for volleyball and basketball. Besides the hostess job I had, this was the only other job I've had so far that I had to deal with difficult customers. So this job taught me about patience and I had it tested a lot during the time I worked at the PAC. However, in the end it did teach me some valuable lessons about customer service.
