My parents didn’t understand my career when I first graduated from college. I tried a million times to explain the minutiae of the job to no avail, and at some point, I simply told them “I’m like the mom of my crew.” It came out quickly and at the time I don’t think I really even knew how apt the simile was. But think about it. Mom is the one who holds it all together; who has the Advil in her purse (and the screwdriver and the tissues and the snacks); who thinks about what you need before you do; who sets up play dates with your friends; who has a contingency plan for everything; who reminds you to bring a coat because it’s cold. That’s what I do. I think ahead and make sure we’re all prepared. I’m the one you want on your Zombie Apocalypse team.I’m a planner. I thrive on organization, building contingency plans, and problem solving. I love the big picture, but I also have the attention to detail and work ethic needed to effectively execute. I’m really good under pressure and can think on the fly. Live production doesn’t get a second take. Time slows down when things hit the fan, and I feel like I’m in the Matrix dodging bullets and getting it done. I’m creative. I believe everyone has a story to tell, and there are hundreds of ways to bring the story to life. The trick is finding the most effective media to communicate each chapter, and then building those pieces together into a larger narrative. I’m a connector. I love building relationships and connecting people. If I can’t do it myself, I’ll have a suggestion for who to call. Most of all, I’m a genuine and sincere human who works hard to do her best in every situation. My grandmother once told my mom: “nobody can hide her light under a bucket.” I strive to live up to that mantra every day.
