Implemented as part of a team a data ingestion and storage engine requiring data integrity and fast read and write speeds using Java 8, Apache Spark Streaming, and Apache Kafka. Engine consumed healthcare data from internal and external data sources, applied transformations, and stored the data into Neo4j and Elasticsearch databases for internal user consumption.Deployed engine to a production AWS environment and provided updates, support, and maintenance.Converted engine into a generalized platform that other teams could use to develop data directories of additional healthcare data and provided documentation, training, and support for the platform.

As a functional manager and PM, I took a hands-on approach while not micromanaging individual contributors, promoted a positive team atmosphere, and provided design and development assistance when needed to ensure customer goals were met or exceeded. I took on any negative issues that bubbled up and communicated them with customers to allow teammates to focus on their performance and not feel uncomfortable.I built and maintained strong relationships with long-term clients.Managed a small team of Senior Software Engineers and a Principle UI designer.Promoted to Manager II in March of 2016.Case Study:As a new PM, I worked on a year-long migration of a long-standing client’s Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system from their call centers to Nuance’s hosted environment. This was a challenging role as PM; it required me to guide this project through a series of uncommon complexities: the core of our team had never worked with Nuance's hosted organization, the timeline was shorter than had ever been achieved by said organization, and a number of platforms and technologies we used were previously untested in the hosted platform.Despite the challenges, we were able to succeed. By helping teammates in a crunch or working out a plan when they felt overwhelmed, I promoted a positive team atmosphere that elicited strong results from my teammates. Teammates felt safe to be transparent and come forward with problems or issues; instead of being upset, they knew that I would help, contributing to the problem area alongs with them and strategically re-planning the project to avoid impacts to the overall project timeline without putting teammates under more pressure. All of this resulted in a project came in under budget and that the customer viewed very positively.

From Associate to Senior Software Engineer in four years, served as tech lead and lead developer on Java and JSP Web Technology-based Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems for important clients, working closely with their technical and business teams throughout the project life-cycle and influencing key technical and business decisions through guidance based on a deep understanding and analysis of these decisions and optimal solutions. Assisted with UI design creation and validation, managed project technical resources, developed high-quality software, mentored other developers, and consistently took ownership of responsibilities and commitments, resulting in both timely and high-quality deliverables and guidance for numerous clients. Led two internal process improvement projects to (1) develop a standardized client backend integration stubbing framework for use on IVR projects across the division, along with best practices for designing said integrations in a way to significantly reduce budget and schedule risk, and (2) created guidelines for achieving successful offshore project results, focused on optimal strategies for team communication, technical documentation, client backend integrations, and proper project selection. Notable achievements: 1) Using the aforementioned offshore engagement guidelines, led a team of offshore developers on a project with an aggressive timeline and significantly delayed customer backend designs. As a result of processes implemented as tech lead based on these guidelines, the project came in 30% under budget for the technical design, development (mainly offshore) and QA phases with high CSAT. Recognized as the first offshore development projects in our practice to finish on schedule and under the budgeted number of hours, resulting in very high margins due to the use of low cost development labor. 2) Successfully tech led the complex overhaul of a long-term client's IVR call-flow in 2008, within my first year at Nuance.
