I am a specialist in construction law, focussing primarily on contentious work. I have experience of all forms of legal proceedings, including litigation and arbitration, as well as adjudication. I work with clients to provide solutions to legal issues. I act for a range of industry members, including developers, housebuilders, contractors, sub-contractors and consultants. I often provide clients with commercial and legal advice during troublesome projects, to help avoid legal disputes or to best position the client should a dispute arise. I advise on all standard form construction contracts (including JCT and NEC), as well as bespoke agreements. I am regularly instructed on professional negligence issues and act for insurers.Recent cases include:- Advising in the resolution of a final account dispute involving a global industrial services client and a leading petrochemical company. The deal saw the client recover the full amount claimed (c.£2M).- Providing project-based advice to an industrial services client to help it avoid a final account dispute with its employer, which is a leading engineering company. A resolution was agreed without the need for formal proceedings, helping preserve this important commercial relationship for the client.- Assisting in a claim on behalf of a leading facilities management company. The client was claiming c.£1M for work management services. A settlement was reached following a mediation which saw the client recover a substantial proportion of its claim and legal costs.I offer tailored presentations on industry-related issues.
