As Director of Sustainability, I work with faculty, staff and students to integrate sustainability values and practices into the operations and culture of the University. Tasks include:Developing a multi-year sustainability plan for the campus which will present a vision, strategy and metrics for reducing the university's environmental footprint. Leading a planning process that assesses feasibility and cost effectiveness and proposes priority initiatives for implementation. Liaising with university departments to implement a variety of campus sustainability projects, including operational, academic, research and student sustainability activities. Promoting proactive, environmentally responsible practices, awareness and understanding of environmental issues on campus and beyond.

Responsible for managing all aspects of the Facilities Services division including the following departments - building maintenance, building operations (mechanical, electrical, plumbing), utility operations, access control and security systems, environmental health and safety, grounds, custodial, motor pool, logistics, mail room, capital planning and fiscal administration.

In partnership with the city of Cleveland's Office of Sustainability, I lead a group of committed and passionate sustainability practitioners and community members in devising a corporate sustainability network for Northeast Ohio.The group formed at the 2014 Sustainability Summit where the idea to form a network similar to Boston's Green Ribbon Commission was presented. Drawing on the model from Boston and similar groups in Chicago (Green Ribbon Committee) and Pittsburgh (Business Climate Coalition), our group is working to develop a model that will best suit Cleveland organizations. The network would represent all key economic sectors in the region and engage sector leadership to align their operations with the goals of the Cleveland Climate Action Plan. The network would promote sharing of best practices and success stories within and across sectors. When a critical mass of business leaders endorse the need to reduce emissions, we hope to see further promotion of energy efficiency initiatives and community engagement initiatives across Northeast Ohio.

Responsible for community outreach, education, and communication strategies of the Australian National University (ANU) Sustainability Office, ANUgreen.Tasks included engaging staff and students in achieving the goals of the ANU Environmental Management Plan including targets relating to energy, water, waste and recycling, transport, biodiversity, green ICT, heritage, pollution and risk. Developed a campus-wide strategy for promoting positive environmental behaviors amongst a community of 18,000 people, including a communications strategy for a campaign to save $2M on energy and water.Received multiple awards for sustainability outreach strategies nationally and internationally.

Principal researcher on a project analyzing sustainability content in the Australian National University (ANU) curriculum in order to create linkages between sustainability themes in teaching, research and operations. Liaised with faculty to embed sustainability concepts into the curriculum and subsequently use the campus as a laboratory for sustainability education.

Responsible for organizing student campus sustainability initiatives, awareness raising campaigns and events including a speaker series, tree plantings, and tours of local sustainable homes and businesses. Established a student-run campus organic garden. Offered students opportunities to engage with practical campus sustainability issues including landscape rehabilitation, frog and bird monitoring and campus clean-up days. Provided training to students in a variety of skills including energy and waste auditing.

Seasonal naturalist for the Ohio and Erie Canal Reservation providing outdoor environmental education experiences for children and adults. Developed educational programs and led informational guided tours of the park.
