I founded Wiresmith Technology to enable R&D to develop better products faster with custom measurement systems.Typically, my customers are scientists and engineers who are experts in their field, working in a range of industries from biotechnology to mechanical engineering.They all understand what measurements need to be taken and how. They know what the system should look like as a ‘black box’, what goes into the box and what they need to get out of it. They just don't have the time, budget or expertise to design and build the software and interface systems that are inside the box, or the hardware, security and operational elements that join everything together. Which is where I come in.I specialise in delivery real-time data acquisition and processing systems typically based on National Instruments hardware platform with LabVIEW (inc. Real-Time and FPGA). However I don't tie myself to this and can also work in other platforms such as Javascript or Python for the web.I do all of this whilst demonstrating and teaching best practices for developing quality software using the best professional tools available to me.

As an AE specialist I was tasked with ensuring our customers are successful with NI's system level products. This was accomplished through advanced one on one support, on site consulting, proof of concepts and teaching of advanced courses.I also acted as a technical expert within the branch for technologies such as LabVIEW OOP, cRIO, FlexRIO, Veristand and DIAdem. This meant acting as a support resource for our technical support team and delivering training material for internal training, marketing events and user groups.

I supported customers through email and phone support across the full range of NI products. During this role I carved out a speciality for compactRIO based issues and became the department go-to for issues with this.I also delivered training courses for customers, particularly focusing on more advanced courses like LabVIEW FPGA and Managing Software Engineering in LabVIEW.

-Spent 3 months in analytical chemistry analysing animal feeds.-Moved to microbiology running the section over the weekend testing animal feed and products for human consumption.
