About Michael Coates

Since 2007, I have led Protostar Surveys & Development, where we survey employees, design and run 360-degree feedback reports, and coach high-potential managers. I am now based in the UK and Mexico, where I am also an Academic Leader/Guest Lecturer at Tecnológico de Monterrey. I have worked with clients ranging from global corporations, universities, and law firms to local SMEs, surveying their employees to assess levels of engagement and reporting back to their leadership team on how they could improve their organisation's levels of motivation and productivity. I have also delivered over 2000 feedback sessions to managers who have used one of our award-winning 360-degree feedback tools.I have worked with leading universities such as Durham and Edinburgh to develop bespoke 360 feedback tools based on their leadership frameworks. Similarly, I worked with legal professionals to design what we feel is the world's leading 360 feedback tool for law firms.With over 25 years of coaching experience and a Postgraduate Certificate in Coaching, I am often called upon to coach high-potential managers or those with a specific development need, such as presentation confidence, imposter syndrome, or generalised anxiety. I am the author of "Psychology and Organisations" and numerous articles and peer-reviewed papers. I am well versed in organisational behaviour and can use various psychometric tools to support leadership training and executive coaching. Having led the EMEA HR services team for a global corporation, held a leadership team position in Further Education and started my career in retail management, I have many years of leadership experience to draw upon.
