As I travel the country (and possibly the world) as a military spouse, I am using the research, interview and writing skills I have developed as a journalist to tell the amazing stories of changemakers who are making a difference in the lives of others. Two of those changemakers are St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which is leading the way the world understands, treats and cures childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases; and VirtForce, the digital platform connecting 50,000 military spouses and veterans to remote careers. Before I began traveling the country as a military spouse, I spent the past decade perfecting my skills as a researcher, writer and editor working at newspapers in Tennessee and Arkansas, most recently as a business reporter at The Daily Memphian. I began my journalism career in Conway, Arkansas, where I covered the business beat for the city's local community newspaper, the Log Cabin Democrat. The bulk of my experience came from covering Downtown Memphis, transportation, the business of city government and economic development at the Memphis Business Journal. As an active-duty Air Force spouse, I move every few years, so having a remote career fits perfectly with my ever-changing lifestyle. My network is constantly expanding as I get to meet new people and explore new parts of our beautiful country. When I'm not creating content from home, you can find me spoiling my dog, chatting with family back home in Tennessee and searching for the best hole-in-the-wall, local restaurants with my husband.
