I was responsible for business strategy and innovation for the Harrington Heart and Vascular Institute across UH affiliated hospitals in North East Ohio.

I was responsible for operations, integration and quality metrics of catheterization laboratories of 10 affiliated hospitals within the UH Health System. I coordinated a sustained growth in clinical volume and diversification of services with concomitant improvement in quality metrics. I performed multiple interventional procedural “firsts” regionally, nationally, and internationally and established a regional integrated network for the treatment of heart attack.

I was responsible for all translational and clinical cardiovascular research operations within the UH Healthcare system. During this period, I introduced financial accounting into management of sponsored research projects, transforming a $600,000 annual deficit in 2006 into profitability in 2013 and an aggregate budget of $8MM.

Founder and manager of this academic research organization that provides imaging analytics and research design services for industry and NIH sponsored translational research. Design and management of >40 national and international clinical trials. Established the Center of Excellence in Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), a multidisciplinary team of physicians and engineers who have been the recipient of > $3 million in direct funding from the National Institute of Health (NIH R01, R21), Intramural funds (CTSC Pilot Grant) and State agencies (Ohio Third Frontier).

I helped advance CWRU academic mission through my translational and clinical research in the fields of stem cell therapy, medical devices and cardiovascular imaging.I embrace global health and have coordinated the development of the first adult cardiovascular medicine program in Uganda, Africa; and established international collaborations (US, Uganda and Brazil) for the eradication of Rheumatic Heart Disease and telemedicine. I was the catalyst of an international academic partnership between CWRU and Hospital Israelite Albert Einstein to establish the first-of-its-kind school of medicine in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

I was responsible for all translational and clinical cardiovascular research operations at University of Florida, Jacksonville Health Science Campus. I established the UF Cardiovascular Imaging Core Laboratory, an academic research organization, which designed and executed the first large multicenter study in the world to use web-based cardiac image data transmission of over 1500 procedures from 30 institutions. I also established a thrombosis and platelet translational research program and expanded the cardiovascular research program, which generated between $100,000 and $500,000 annual profits. I pioneered drug-eluting stent technology in the U.S. and Japan and established an international business partnership with Cardialysis B.V. in The Netherlands for the coordination of global clinical trials.
