I am a Senior Software Developer on the Platform team at Wattpad, which is a small but growing team. We create APIs to enable new features and use cases of Wattpad. We are laying the foundation to scale Wattpad for billions of users.* Designed and shipped major products and features that scaled from 2M to 60M+ MAU.* Created Wattpad’s Native Advertising system that served 5000 ads per second across all clients, generating 25% of yearly revenue.* Rebuilt the newsfeed service eliminating mobile app releases when new ad formats are introduced.* Designed and built the initial recommendation engine to recommend stories for users based on their currently reading story by analyzing up to 100 data points, increasing the number of stories bookmarked by readers by 3x.* Created the inline comments service that increased engagement of readers of stories by 5x, serves ~2000 reqs/s.* Redesigned the notification services, sending 183M iOS and Android push notifications per day.Restructured the Comments service out of a single PHP application into a Go microservice, and migrated 700M+ rows from MySQL to DynamoDB.
