About Matt Czugala

What I do:I solve complex problems by connecting people with process and technology. Why I do it:It is my passion. I love challenges, technology and building processes. More importantly, I am fulfilled when connecting people to the processes and tools that make their lives easier. Why it matters:Optimizing the relationship between people, process & technology creates operational efficiency. These are the 3 keys of success to project implementation and organizational change. Far too often, technology is seen as the "silver bullet." Without focusing on all 3 areas (people, process, & technology) an imbalance is created and your project is doomed to fail. How I do it:I get to the root of the problem by asking questions, listening closely, & looking at data. Once I understand the problem, I find who needs to be involved and how to improve the process. Once those two keys are defined, I look to see what technologies will support them. After the technology tools are identified I apply best practices and work with stakeholders to develop an implementation plan and iterate to continuously improve.

Matt Czugala Work Experience Details
  • Redemption Plus
    Chief Technology Officer
Redemption Plus Jun 2011 - Present
    Overland Park, Kansas, Us
At Redemption Plus I am the Chief Technology Officer and there is never a dull day. If there is anything related to process, systems, technology, or data, I am there to lead the way. I oversee the daily operations and provide strategic direction of the Information Systems team including the management of network, servers, application support, and application development. I work among the strategy team to identify ways to leverage systems, information, and industry trends on how to push our company forward into the future. A large part of my duties include project management for our B2B e-commerce website, as well as the systems integration with our ERP & CRM. I serve as an internal I.S. consultant by working directly with our internal team members to identify ways how to help them be more successful in the work they do. Additionally, I build relationships with our Industry partners to help design processes and systems to integrate our systems through EDI & API development. Finally, I am our champion for Salesforce.com, our in-house Microsoft SQL guru & reporting master, and the administrator for our ERP software (Sage 100).
  • Heartland Surgical Specialty Hospital
    Information Systems & Security Manager
Heartland Surgical Specialty Hospital Jul 2007 - Jun 2011
    Overland Park, Kansas, Us
At HSSH, I was a hands-on manager that oversaw all daily operations for the IT department. My biggest accomplishment was serving as the project manager for the deployment of the Meditech EMR system. This required constant communication with all of the department leaders and a deep understanding on my part of how the entire hospital process needed to run from patient scheduling all the way to billing/collections. Additionally, I led the integration projects with 3rd party vendors to ensure that their systems worked with the meditech system (LAB/PACS/Barcoding/Reporting).I also led the management of the IT Infrastructure, software, & help-desk for the hospital. This included all of the desktops, laptops, servers, switches, routers, wireless access points, VOIP system, and firewall. In order to lower the total cost of ownership for our infrastructure, I led the implementation of VMware to consolidate the number of physical servers that were under utilized.
  • Mercy Regional Hospital
    Network Administrator
Mercy Regional Hospital Aug 2006 - Jun 2007
Whoa! Things just got real. This was my first real job outside of college to start my career. Here I was the primary point of contact for the hospital's help-desk. Instead of being a techie hiding behind their computer in the server room all day, I frequently visited different areas of the hospital to build relationships with all of the departments to increase customer satisfaction. I was held accountable to keeping software systems (Active Directory, Exchange, Microsoft Office) and hardware (desktops, thin clients, laptops, servers, and switches) running smoothly for the hospital. I also learned how to be an administrator for Meditech EMR and the Imagenow paperless documentation system.
  • Kansas State University
    Senior Student Coordinator
Kansas State University Aug 2004 - Aug 2006
    Manhattan, Ks, Us
My first promotion. I was able to go from pizza dinners to the occasional hamburger helper meal. Here I led the student computer training center, where we provided cool technology tools for students and faculty to use. These were things like an audio booth to record music, video equipment to convert VHS or video camera recording to DVD or video files, and using the Adobe creative suite software. I managed projects to deploy new technology and helped find what the next cool thing coming out was. Additionally, I trained co-workers on best practices when providing customer service.
  • Kansas State University
    Computer / Network Technician
Kansas State University Aug 2003 - Aug 2004
    Manhattan, Ks, Us
My first college job. I wanted to upgrade my dinners from ramen to pizza, a feat many college students can understand. In this role I was a an administrator for 3 campus computer labs. I created and deployed multiple system images for laptop and desktops. When equipment was broken, I had to troubleshoot and repair. I also created policies for asset procurement and recycling.
