Organiser - Program And ResearchShongshoptok Mar 2024 - PresentDhaka, BangladeshAs one of the core organiser of Shongshoptok, which is a non-binary-led Bangladeshi queer-mobilising organisation, I have dedicatedly contributed to creating safe spaces for the SOGIESC community by organising safe community gatherings for over 500 SOGIESC individuals. These events were designed to reduce the intersectional gap, promote inclusivity, and foster a sense of belonging among community members. These gatherings served as a platform to connect, share their experiences, and build a robust support network.I have contributed in engaging and empowering the SOGIESC youth with contemporary SOGIESC movements, ensuring they are well-informed and actively participating in advocacy and community-building efforts which boosted their confidence to contribute to the movement.Recognising the mental health challenges faced by many SOGIESC individuals, I contributed to organise peer-counseling sessions for over 300 individuals in crisis. These sessions provided a safe space for individuals to discuss their issues and receive emotional support and guidance addressing their mental well-being.For community education initiatives, I have oriented over 100 SOGIESC youth on diversity, intersectionality, and human rights through targeted educational sessions aimed to enhance their understanding and awareness, equipping them with the knowledge to advocate for themselves and others effectively.My advocacy efforts extended to contributing to queer-political articles, write-ups, and statements on behalf of Shongshoptok, amplifying the voices of the community and advocating for their rights and visibility that helped shape public discourse and bring attention to the issues faced by the SOGIESC community.My work at Shongshoptok has been driven by a dedication to inclusion, empowerment, and human rights, and I look forward to continuing to advocate for and support the community in every possible way.
