Graduate Research Assistant

Insect Molecular Physiology Lab, Andong, Republic Of Korea

Andong, North Gyeongsang, South Korea

As a dedicated molecular biologist, my research primarily focused on understanding how entomopathogens, particularly bacterial strains, suppress immune responses in insects. My work delved into the intricate mechanisms by which these pathogens alter the biosynthesis of eicosanoids and serotonin signaling pathways, key processes that play a crucial role in insect immunity. Through my research at the Insect Molecular Physiology Lab at Andong National University, I contributed to the broader understanding of pathogen-host interactions, aiming to uncover novel approaches to pest management. My studies included exploring the biosynthetic pathways of arachidonic acid in response to bacterial challenges and examining the effects of secondary metabolites derived from bacterial strains on insect serotonin receptors. My publications and online works are as follows:a) Phenylethylamides derived from bacterial secondary metabolites specifically inhibit an insect serotonin receptor | Scientific Reports (2019) | DOI: 10.1038/s41598-019-56892-zb) Biosynthetic pathway of arachidonic acid in Spodoptera exigua in response to bacterial challenge | Insect Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (2019) | DOI: 10.1016/j.ibmb.2019.103179c) Variation in pathogenicity of different strains of Xenorhabdus nematophila; Differential immunosuppressive activities and secondary metabolite production | Journal of Invertebrate Pathology (2019) | DOI: 10.1016/j.jip.2019.107221d) Overexpression of PGE2 synthase by in vivo transient expression enhances immunocompetency along with fitness cost in a Lepidopteran Insect | Journal of Experimental Biology (2019) | DOI: 10.1242/jeb.207019e) Identification of an entomopathogenic bacterium, Xenorhabdus ehlersii KSY, from Steinernema longicaudum GNUS101 and its immunosuppressive activity against insect host by inhibiting eicosanoid biosynthesis | Journal of Invertebrate Pathology (2018) | DOI: 10.1016/j.jip.2018.10.014
