Senior Mechanical EngineerMichaels Energy Aug 2022 - PresentLa Crosse, Wi, UsAs the senior mechanical engineer supporting the City of Denver’s commercial and multifamily electrification program, I’ve worn many hats. Having helped develop the program from scratch, I’ve worked primary as the electrification subject matter expert for commercial building mechanical systems. I play a critical role in program design having developed the EFR model to determine electrification feasibility for our clients. I was tasked with developing a model to be used upon permitting existing natural gas systems - and scaling the tool to be used by our industry service workforce. I helped to develop our pilot program and electrification rebate programs. Other than program development, I take the lead role in client facilitation, specifically pertaining to electrification of large central hydronic heating plants. I assist engineers and building owners for the entirety of their projects - from feasibility to design and bid review and commissioning. -

Nuclear Field Engineer InternKiewit May 2012 - Aug 2012Omaha, Ne, UsWhile Kiewit is a large corporation that has been around for over 150 years, the Nuclear department of this company is relatively new and still establishing much of the training, quality, safety, and procedural foundation which will pave the way for an exciting future in the Nuclear Industry. As a Mechanical Engineering intern for Kiewit, I was trained on the operation of nuclear, natural gas and coal fire power plant operations. I obtained Nuclear safety training and began my Nuclear Field Engineering training. When my intern training was complete, I spent some time helping to support a natural gas plant called Chouteau in Oklahoma. I then assisted in the development of further Nuclear Field Engineering training coursework. The majority of my work was focused on quality control, functionality, testing, and inspection of mechanical components such as valves, piping, rigging, flanges, pumps, etc... Using SolidWorks, I designed a simple nuclear power plant to display some of the mechanical components which I covered in the Nuclear Field Engineering Training - I have uploaded screenshots of this power plant design to my profile, however, these designs were for presentation use only. -
Engineer InternMechdyne Corporation Jan 2009 - Aug 2010Marshalltown, Iowa, UsMy primary responsibility while working for Mechdyne was to ensure the installation of our product went smoothly and met customer needs. I was involved with three virtual reality systems for customers such as John Deere, Boeing, and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia. I spent a considerable amount of time staging each of these custom systems to ensure proper functionality. I then traveled to the customer location to assist in the installation of the virtual systems. I spent 3 weeks with Boeing in St. Louis, 3 weeks with John Deere in Waterloo and a total of about 9 months in Saudi Arabia. During each system installation, my team's responsibility was to overcome the unexpected challenges that occur when working with virtual technology. Our greatest challenge was dealing with all of the construction that was going on while we were installing the system in Saudi Arabia, where each day brought new problems for us to overcome as efficiently and safely as possible. I earned awards from my superiors for my performance during this time. One example was for my 3-axis adjustable speaker mounting method which I made from scrap in order to solve an un-forseen tolerance issue with our light-path. -
Maintenance TechMartin Marietta Materials 2005 - 2006Raleigh, Nc, UsI worked for Martin Marietta during my second year of college. During this time, I was a full time student working in the mine on the night shift from 5pm to 5am. My main responsibility was to work with a team of 4-5 technicians to ensure the plant remained operational during each shift. We were responsible for fixing everything from conveyors and bearings to rebuilding the entire crusher. I was required to weld, plasma cut, and do anything necessary to get the job done safely and fast. I learned a great deal about safety during this time, as well as team management that is required to complete a task in high stress and high danger situations.
