Mazen was responsible since he joined for implementing the Balanced Scorecard system (starting from the new vision crafted immediately after he joined all the way to the detailed 100's of KPIs on the Corporate and Business Unit Scorecards).The Company’s vision facilitated by Mazen in 2006 was key in Qtel’s broad expansion from 2 countries to 17. This was followed by another vision and strategy for Qtel Qatar Operating company to better prepare for the competition with Vodafone, which ended up in Ooredoo's favor.

Spent 4 years as the Strategic Planning Manager at Qatar Steel, The oldest and second largest steel company in the region. Worked with Qatar Steel’s CEO (Sh. Nasser), Chairman (Y.H. Kamal, Qatar’s Minister of Finance, at the time), and the top team on transforming and expanding the company utilizing a fresh company mission, vision, and values. The new vision was successfully executed using the Balanced Scorecard strategy execution system. The results speak for themselves; the company more than tripled in production volume while operating profits have increased more than 8 multiples in a time span of 5yrs.

Pioneered the work on the company’s statements of intent (Mission/Vision/Values) and its corporate strategy while also working on the North Gas Field business strategy (the single largest gas field in the world).Prior to this Post, Mazen was the Head of Exploration & Production Database Projects for QE during which he established the country's National first E&P Repository.Mazen started in QE (QP at the time) as an Engineer and headed Petrophysics Operations.Before QE, he worked for Schlumberger in India, Egypt, Indonesia, and Singapore.
