Development of education and teaching, mainly in the Bachelor of Medicine. Main topics of my education are Qualitative Research, Prevention, and Health Inequalities. In addition, I supervise multiple students in conducting research. Topics of these researches are, for example, health literacy, the experiences of first generation students and health communication. My own research focuses upon 'inequalities in health (care)'. My main research is on the development and effectiveness of health literacy interventions in chronic kidney disease. We found an intervention 'Grip on Your Kidneys', targeting both patients and professionals, optimized blood pressures, the quality of consultations, and competences of professionals to support patients with LHL. The intervention was cost-saving. In addition, I am interested in the role of inequalities within education. For example, if backgrounds of students play a role in their study experiences and success.

Preventie en gezond ouder worden spelen een steeds grotere rol in het geneeskunde-onderwijs. Ik ontwikkel, evalueer, geef en toets onderwijs dat raakt aan deze onderwerpen, vanuit de afdeling sociale geneeskunde.
