Campaign Central runs effective, targeted political campaigns to achieve progressive ends. We ran a targeted social media campaign in marginal seats in the 2019 General Election which reached 3 million voters, 30,000 of whom clicked through to a tactical voting website. We work on Labour Party campaigns, NGOs, charities and other progressives in the UK and Europe.

I founded and ran Labour for a Public Vote, a grassroots campaign which successfully campaigned for the Labour Party policy to support a confirmatory referendum on the Brexit deal. We were the main campaign behind the 150+ constituency motions sent to Labour conference in 2018 which resulted in the party's policy shift to support a public vote. We worked with Labour MPs, MEPs, trade unions and Labour activists to make the case for a public vote in the party, Parliament and country.

I worked with charities, politicians, think tanks, faith communities, funders and other actors on issues including migration, refugees, integration, and the rise of populism and extremism. My work with partners included research, campaign management, fundraising, leadership development and training. I worked on issues including refugee and migration research policy, international aid, UK refugee and asylum issues, community integration and effective charity and political campaigns. I worked with individuals and organisations including Labour MPs, Migration Exchange, British Red Cross, CAFOD, International Rescue Committee, the Jo Cox Foundation, the Methodist Joint Public Issues Team.

I developed and led successful community organising campaigns in partnership with Labour MPs, PPCs, trade union and Labour Party members. We developed successful campaigns around education, transport, housing, the Living Wage and against payday loan companies, among others. Some significant wins in local constituencies and nationally gave the Labour Party new ways to engage with voters, drawing in new activists and members, re-energising local parties and providing tangible proof of Labour’s values. I trained hundreds of Labour members in community organising and helped them to develop successful local campaigns.

I started and ran a small consultancy company which focused primarily on the needs of large UK international NGOs and smaller, internationally based, NGOs. Our main focus was in developing organisational strategy and focus. We also helped charities develop successful campaign strategies, often focused on advocacy towards UK and other governments. We also worked in research, programme development, project evaluations, capacity building and training. Some examples of our work: we led an organisation wide review of a large international NGO’s UK campaign work to determine whether this would be strengthened by on the ground poverty alleviation in the UK; for a second NGO we conducted research into the effect on livelihoods and employment of the Haitian earthquake; we developed an EC funded small business development project in Central Asia.

I developed and led community organising campaigns across London in fields including immigration and community cohesion (working particularly with the Muslim community), physical rehabilitation of green spaces and community areas in council estates, housing. I trained hundreds of community activists and developed and led teams of activists in numerous campaigns.

I led Tearfund’s development work through partnerships with local charities. I developed strategic plans and campaigns across four nations. I managed a large departmental budget. Working with partners I led the development of advocacy and campaign strategies to influence local and national governments in the four nations. I led training in humanitarian work and campaign strategy with hundreds of charity workers and community members. Some examples of the work I developed with local partners: small business development and apprenticeship projects in Central Asia; helping drug and HIV rehabilitation centres in Russia develop vocational training schemes; campaigning for minority rights in Kyrgyzstan.

Tirana, Albania

I led the development of humanitarian and long term development work, as well as national and local campaigns, in Albania. I led the development of a national campaign to encourage the government to educate young people more effectively about HIV. I successfully applied for campaign funding which doubled the size of the national programme over two years.

Iraq

I planned and implemented Islamic Relief's response to the 2003 Iraq war. Prior to the war I developed a response plan and worked with local staff to prepare for the coming war. Ten days after the war officially ended we drove into Iraq from Jordan with 17 trucks of relief materials, distributing these over following weeks in Baghdad. I led a project to rehabilitate local health centres in Baghdad which had been destroyed or damaged in the conflict, restoring essential health services to local communities.
